Meet Craig Thomas – Soul Searching, One 45 at a Time From the Northern Soul dancefloors to the fairways of his local golf club, meet a man with a lifelong passion for music, vinyl and discovering something special. Some DJs are happy playing the records everybody knows. Others spend years searching through record boxes, hunting down forgotten gems, obscure labels and those elusive little 7-inch singles that most people have never heard of.

Craig Thomas is definitely one of the latter.A familiar and well-respected figure on the Northern Soul scene, Craig has spent many years collecting, researching and sharing the music he loves. His specialist programme, Soul Searching, on Love Soul Radio London is a reflection of that passion. And when it comes to soul music, Craig certainly knows his stuff.A Man Who Knows His 45s For Craig, collecting records is about far more than simply owning a piece of vinyl. It's about the artist, the label, the year it was pressed, the musicians behind the recording and, quite often, the story of how a wonderful song managed to slip under the radar.

His particular passion lies in early soul, Northern Soul and crossover, that fascinating period when the raw, energetic sounds of the 1960s began evolving into the smoother, more sophisticated soul recordings of the early 1970s.Craig has developed an impressive knowledge of artists, record labels, release dates and those wonderful little details that serious collectors love discussing. He's also got something you can't necessarily learn from a book: a great ear for a good record. He digs deep, and that's what makes his musical selections so interesting. You might hear a familiar Northern Soul favourite, followed by an obscure B-side or a forgotten crossover recording that leaves you wondering how on earth you missed it.

That's the beauty of Soul Searching.A Familiar Face on the Northern Soul Scene Craig's involvement in Northern Soul goes back many years, and he's built a great reputation among fellow collectors, DJs and enthusiasts. He's very much part of the community, regularly playing records at local soul nights, clubs and events, sharing his passion with people who appreciate the music as much as he does. And anyone familiar with the Northern Soul scene will know that it's about much more than simply turning up and playing a few records. It's a culture built around friendships, dancefloors, discoveries and a shared appreciation of music that has stood the test of time.
<img id="hx35ymb0ifmv585ovb" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/1884CUBEUoJf9P66uNo41stX8YO86zCoiSHkkEEvlGPAbZYEzYTOOJKfyt7EKjgZ.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; Meet PJ – The Man Behind Soul Intimacy 25 Years Behind the Microphone, a Lifetime in Love with Soul Music

There's something rather special about Sunday evenings. The weekend is winding down, the pace of life slows a little, and there's no better time to sit back, relax and enjoy some beautifully selected soul music. And that's where PJ comes in.Every Sunday evening, from 7pm until 9pm, PJ takes to the airwaves of Love Soul Radio London with Soul Intimacy, a programme dedicated to the finer side of soul music. Think sophisticated soul, luxury grooves, beautiful slow jams, soulful jazz and those wonderful forgotten gems that make you stop what you're doing and ask, "Now, who's this?"But behind the music is a man with an interesting story, a genuine passion for broadcasting and a few surprises along the way.Where It All Began PJ is certainly no newcomer to radio. With around 25 years of broadcasting experience behind him, he's spent a considerable part of his life sharing his love of music with listeners.Interestingly, Soul Intimacy wasn't originally his creation. The programme was the brainchild of his good friend Tony Ray, who invited PJ to join him as a co-presenter on a fortnightly basis. What began as two friends sharing their enthusiasm for quality soul music gradually developed into something much more significant. When Tony eventually relocated, he gave PJ his blessing to continue presenting Soul Intimacy. And the rest, as they say, is history.

PJ has proudly carried the programme forward, preserving its original spirit while developing his own distinctive style and musical identity. It's a lovely example of how a shared passion for music can create something that lasts for decades.A Man Who Knows His Music Spend a little time listening to PJ and you'll quickly realise that this isn't someone simply pulling together a handful of familiar soul records. There's thought behind the selections, an appreciation of musical quality and, perhaps most importantly, a genuine understanding of what makes a great listening experience.Soul Intimacy isn't about chasing trends or playing the obvious hits. It's about discovering those beautifully produced records that sometimes slip beneath the radar. The kind of music that appeals to collectors, enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates a little sophistication in their soul. From timeless classics to contemporary luxury soul, mellow grooves, soulful jazz and irresistible slow jams, PJ creates an atmosphere rather than simply filling two hours with records. And that's what makes the programme so listenable. The Man Away from the Microphone Of course, there's considerably more to PJ than his record collection. He's a proud dad and grandad, a self-confessed music junkie and something of a synthesiser wizard.Clearly, his fascination with music doesn't end when the microphone is switched off. He's also rather partial to a good curry, which suggests he appreciates a bit of spice in his life as well as in his musical selections. And then there's the football.PJ is a devoted supporter of West Bromwich Albion.

Now, we wouldn't dream of questioning his judgement when it comes to soul music, but supporting the Baggies does suggest that he's developed a remarkable capacity for patience, optimism and occasional disappointment!Still, nobody's perfect. It's these little personal touches that make PJ such an interesting character. Behind the carefully chosen music is a family man with a sense of humour, plenty of experience and an obvious enjoyment of life. The Art of Sunday Evening Radio There's a particular skill involved in presenting a Sunday evening radio programme. It's not necessarily about being the loudest voice, playing the biggest records or filling every available moment with conversation.Sometimes the real skill is knowing when to let the music do the talking. And that's something PJ understands. His programme has a natural warmth and an unhurried quality that makes it perfect for that particular time of the week.Whether you're preparing for Monday morning, enjoying a quiet evening at home, relaxing with a glass of something nice or simply escaping the noise of everyday life, Soul Intimacy provides a wonderfully appropriate soundtrack. There's a certain elegance about the whole thing.Nothing forced, nothing unnecessarily complicated. Just great music, carefully selected and presented by someone who genuinely loves what he does.A Welcome Member of the Love Soul Radio London Family At Love Soul Radio London, we've always believed that a great radio station is about more than simply playing good records. It's about the personalities behind the programmes, their knowledge, their enthusiasm and the individual character they bring to the airwaves.PJ fits that philosophy beautifully. With a quarter of a century in broadcasting, an impressive appreciation of quality soul music and a programme that has developed its own identity over the years, he brings something distinctive to our Sunday evening schedule.

And we're delighted to have him as part of the family. So, Put Your Feet Up... Every Sunday at 7pm, when Neil Greaves closes the lid on his Big Box of Chocolates, the musical journey continues.Only this time, we're turning down the lights, easing back into the sofa and allowing PJ to take us somewhere a little more intimate. Two hours of sophisticated soul, luxury grooves, beautiful slow jams and musical discoveries, all delivered with the experience and affection of a man who has spent 25 years doing something he clearly loves. And if West Brom have lost that afternoon, perhaps those two hours of beautiful soul music are exactly what he needs!PJ – Soul IntimacyEvery Sunday | 7pm–9pm (UK Time)Love Soul Radio LondonFrom London to the World.Because great soul music deserves to be heard.

Meet Kevin O'Brien

DJ Neil Greaves Founder of Love Soul Radio London Neil Greaves grew up in a house filled with music. His mother was a passionate record collector, with an enormous vinyl collection covering reggae, blues, soul, folk, country, rock and almost everything in between.

When Neil was around ten years old, he began exploring that collection for himself. Discovering records by Bob Marley and The Wailers, Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles and Millie Jackson sparked a lifelong passion. Before long, his paper-round money was being spent in Aylesbury record shops including Record House, Earth Records and Our Price.

In 1984, Neil and a group of college friends established the successful mobile disco Select Sounds. It was his first real experience of performing for an audience and taught him the essential skills of reading a room, building a dancefloor and choosing the right record at the right moment.

During the 1990s, Neil became a regular fixture in pubs, bars and clubs throughout Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. He secured resident DJ positions at venues including Chicago Rock Cafe and later had the opportunity to DJ for Ministry of Sound. These busy club years developed his confidence, versatility and ability to connect with very different audiences.

Neil eventually moved into radio, where his experience as a working DJ combined naturally with his deep musical knowledge and relaxed personality. His broadcasting career included time with Retro Soul Radio London, where he further developed his warm, conversational presenting style.

In August 2018, Neil founded Love Soul Radio London. His ambition was to create more than another automated internet stream. He wanted a genuine radio station with knowledgeable presenters, distinctive personalities and carefully selected music—a place where established classics, forgotten gems and independent new releases could be heard together. As founder and owner, Neil remains closely involved in every part of the station. Alongside presenting his own programmes, he helps shape its musical direction, develops new shows, builds the schedule, recruits and supports presenters, promotes independent artists and oversees the station’s continuing growth.

Neil’s specialist programme, Philly Friday, celebrates the legendary Philadelphia sound created by Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, Thom Bell and the artists, musicians and arrangers associated with Philadelphia International Records. The show combines familiar favourites with album tracks, B-sides and overlooked recordings from artists including Teddy Pendergrass, The O’Jays, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Billy Paul, Lou Rawls and The Three Degrees. He also presents The Big Box of Chocolates, a deliberately unpredictable journey through soul, funk, jazz-funk, boogie, disco, reggae, lovers rock, soulful house and much more. Like opening a box of chocolates, listeners never know exactly what is coming next—but every selection has been chosen with purpose.Neil believes radio should feel personal. A presenter should be more than a voice between records: they should understand the music, research the artists and make the listener feel part of the programme. His own style combines musical knowledge, conversation, humour and an instinct for creating a genuine connection. From discovering his mother’s vinyl collection and launching Select Sounds in 1984, through the clubs of the 1990s and into radio, Neil’s journey has always been driven by the same principle: finding great music and sharing it with others.Today, that passion remains at the heart of Love Soul Radio London—a station built around personality, discovery, musical freedom and respect for the artists and culture behind the music.

A Few of Neil’s Favourites First record ever bought: Queen – Bohemian RhapsodyGuaranteed to fill the dancefloor: Earth, Wind & Fire – Let’s GroovePersonal favourite—the greatest record ever made: Talking Heads – Once in a Lifetime. Strange, hypnotic and completely original. A record that makes you dance, think and question everything at the same time. In Neil’s opinion, popular music simply doesn’t get any better.Favourite way to spend his spare time: Watching Tottenham Hotspur—for his sins. It’s less a hobby and more an ongoing test of emotional resilience.Guilty pleasure: Anything wonderfully cheesy from the 1970s—including Leo Sayer or Cat Stevens. Guilty pleasure? Not at all. Brilliant in Neil’s book. DJ. Broadcaster. Record collector. Founder.Neil Greaves is the driving force behind Love Soul Radio London:Soul music, from London to the world.

Donny Watson Some DJs simply play records. Others know exactly when to drop the one tune that changes the whole mood of the room.Donny Watson belongs firmly in the second camp. After spending around 14 years behind the microphone at Retro Soul Radio London, Donny has now made the move to Love Soul Radio London—bringing with him a considerable record collection, years of experience and one of the most recognisable Friday-night soul shows around. It Started with a Sneaky Night Out Donny’s journey into soul music began while he was still in his final year at school.Like many of the best musical stories, it involved doing something he probably wasn’t supposed to do: sneaking into a nightclub.Once inside, he discovered the music of artists including Fat Larry’s Band, Lonnie Liston Smith, Edwin Starr and Evelyn “Champagne” King. Those records made an immediate impression. The funk and soul bug had bitten—and there was no going back. That first nightclub experience grew into a lifelong passion. Donny began collecting music, gradually building up an impressive selection of 12-inch singles and carefully chosen album tracks.

These weren’t records bought simply to fill shelves. They were records selected to be played—loudly, properly and in front of a dancefloor. From London’s Bars to the Radio Donny went on to work as a DJ in music bars and pubs across Greater London.Playing to a live crowd teaches a DJ things that cannot be learned from a playlist. You begin to understand when people are ready for a classic, when to change direction and when to let a groove breathe for a little longer.Over the years, Donny has played a wide assortment of music. However, the heart of his collection has always remained firmly rooted in soul, jazz-funk, disco-funk and the great dancefloor classics of the day. That combination of musical knowledge and real dancefloor experience would eventually become the foundation of Friday Floor Fillers.Fourteen Years of Friday Floor Fillers For approximately 14 years, Donny was a familiar part of the Retro Soul Radio London line-up.Every Friday from 6pm, his two-hour Friday Floor Fillers show signalled that the working week was over and the weekend had officially begun.Archived editions show just how wide Donny’s musical reach could be. A single programme might travel from The Temptations and The O’Jays to Gwen Guthrie, before moving into the early hip-hop and electro energy of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The connection between the records was always the feeling: music with rhythm, personality and the ability to lift a Friday night. His long run at Retro Soul Radio gave him something that cannot be manufactured overnight—a loyal audience. Following his departure, listeners were actively asking where he had gone and whether he would appear on another station. They now have their answer.A New Home at Love Soul Radio London

Donny Watson has joined Love Soul Radio London, and Friday Floor Fillers has come with him.The show remains exactly what its name promises: two hours of bangers, familiar favourites, forgotten dancefloor gems and records capable of turning the kitchen, living room or car into a Friday-night dancefloor.Donny isn’t trying to follow whatever happens to be fashionable that week. His programme is built on years of collecting, playing to real crowds and understanding which records still produce that instant reaction. There will be soul. There will be funk. There will be disco. And there will almost certainly be a record that makes you stop what you’re doing and say, “I haven’t heard this in years!”More Than Just a New DJ Donny’s arrival is about more than filling a space on the schedule. He brings history, experience and an established programme that listeners already know and love. He also shares the values at the heart of Love Soul Radio London: genuine musical knowledge, personality on the microphone and records selected by a human being who understands them. After approximately 14 years at Retro Soul Radio London, this is the beginning of a fresh chapter. The station may have changed, but Donny’s purpose remains the same: to send listeners into the weekend with a smile on their faces and a floor filler coming through the speakers.Welcome to Love Soul Radio London, Donny. The weekend has a new home.First single: T. DJ Jenny, better known as Jazzy Lady, brings experience, personality and a genuine love of great music to Love Soul Radio London.A lifelong lover of sport and a former athlete, Jenny still keeps herself active with regular running and trips to the gym. But music has always been another major passion. A keen collector of fine grooves, her musical education began early, heavily influenced by her brothers’ record collections and a fascination with discovering great records.

That enthusiasm has developed into a wonderfully broad musical taste. Tune into Good Vibrations and you could hear soul, funk, boogie, disco, reggae, Motown, Philly and plenty more besides. Expect a variety of genres all under one roof — with Jenny, you never quite know what you're going to get next, and that's very much part of the appeal. Her experience of broadcasting and playing out live really comes through in her shows. Jenny understands how to build a set, change the mood and keep things flowing naturally. She’s equally comfortable behind a radio microphone as she is behind the decks in front of a dancefloor. And she certainly knows how to work one of those. Jenny teamed up with Neil Greaves at Soul Fiesta in Spain, where Jazzy & Greavsie blew the roof off with a blinding dancehall reggae set — two DJs pushing all the right buttons and keeping the floor moving.

Jenny also loves digging a little deeper into the music. You'll often hear a special tribute show, whether she's celebrating the legends of Philadelphia soul, taking a journey through Motown, or shining the spotlight on a particular record label and the artists and recordings that helped make it special. But there's another ingredient that makes Jenny's radio so engaging. She brings that personal touch to broadcasting that listeners adore. It could be a story about taking her cat to the vet, something that's happened during her week, or an update on her latest dietary plans — which can sometimes provide almost as much entertainment as the records! It's warm, spontaneous and genuine. Jenny has a knack for making you feel as though you're sitting across the table having a conversation with an old friend. That connection between presenter, music and listener is at the heart of what she does.

Great records, musical knowledge, experience, humour and plenty of personality. That's DJ Jenny — The Jazzy Lady.Expect the unexpected.
